The third book in Tillie Cole’s Scarred Souls series releases this month so I went back to the beginning and dived into book 1. Check out my thoughts and full series buy links below.
To take back life, one must first face death . . .
Conditioned in captivity to maim and kill, prisoner 818 becomes an unstoppable fighter in the ring. Violence is all he knows. Death and brutality are the masters of his fate.
After years of incarceration in an underground hell, only one thought occupies his mind: revenge. Revenge on the man who wronged him, condemned him and turned him into this: a rage-fueled killing machine.
Kisa Volkova, daughter of the head of New York’s Russian bratva, lives a protected but unhappy life. As manager of The Dungeon, her father’s underground fighting and gambling syndicate in Brooklyn, grief and pain fill her days. As well as her domineering father, Kisa’s fiancé Alik controls every aspect of her life, dominating her every move, until one night changes everything.
After a chance encounter with a beautiful, tattooed man on the street, Kisa stumbles into a world of feeling and desire as yet unknown to her. And when this man is announced as The Dungeon’s newest fighter, her life is turned upside down.
Tillie Cole is known for her dark and twisted romances, and Raze, the first book in her Scarred Souls series, is probably the grittiest of the books I’ve read from her. Filled with edge of your seat action, a family of crime bosses, brutal fighters, and an insanely sexy romance, Raze will have your attention from beginning to end.
This is a series I’ve been wanting to read for quite a while now, and with book 3 soon to release, I decided now was the perfect time to finally immerse myself into this world. It didn’t take me long at all to read Raze; once I finally dived into the story of Kisa and prisoner 818, I couldn’t seem to read it fast enough!
This was a really dangerous world where anything goes and murder is the status quo, where whether you lived or died depended on how hard and how viciously you fought. It was seriously intense. I have to admit that I did work out the twist early on, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story-I couldn’t wait for the characters to figure it out, too!
Another great read from the Princess of Darkness!
