Cheryl McIntyre has released an erotic novel, and you need to read it.
I have been staring at her for three months. Watching her. Memorizing her.
For ninety-two days, I’ve looked into those lifeless green eyes.
And for ninety-two days she has inspired me in ways I never knew possible. A muse, unbeknownst to her. Motivating me. Encouraging my darkest desires.
I’m a man who knows what he wants. And what I want is the beautiful and broken Holland Howard.
My name is Jensen Payne—photographer, autocrat, lecher, Scopophiliac. I am who I am and I will not—cannot—change.
*This is an Erotic Romance. Recommended for readers 18+ ONLY.
WARNING: This book contains possible emotional triggers.
HARD is a full-length stand-alone erotic romance novel (approximately 50,000 words).
“To understand how I am capable of the things I have done, the actions I have taken, and the decisions I continue to make, I think first, you need to understand why I am the way I am. Then, if you must, you may judge me.”
I love that this wasn’t just a book filled to the brim with sex, and not a whole lot else. I need a real story to hold my attention, and I was immediately drawn in to the actual story in Hard. Cheryl McIntyre has always been great at telling a tale, and that hasn’t changed just because she tried her hand at a different genre.
Holland’s story was the first to unravel, and the one that initially held my attention, but it was my need to get to know the fairly mysterious Jensen, that also kept me turning the pages. Both characters held my interest, and I loved the unexpected twist towards the end.
Obviously with this being an erotic book, it needed to be sexy, and this author never failed to bring the sexy, though I did feel that there should have been slightly more detail, or more length in some of those scenes, to truly make it an erotic read (and yes, I understand how strange that sounds considering how I opened this review).
So far Cheryl McIntyre has written Paranormal, Contemporary NA, Dark Adult, and now Erotica, and she’s never once disappointed me with her way with words. I love how versatile she is, and how she refuses to lock herself in just one box when it comes to her writing. With each book she cements her place as one of my ultimate favourite authors.
“It’s going to take me a while,” she says between kisses. “And it’s going to be hard.” “Everything worthwhile usually is,” I whisper, and then I kiss her again.
