August 5th is just around the corner, and if you’re not already excited about this release, then hopefully I can try and change that. Because this is a book that you need to read. Get ready for all the feels ❤
Title: Ugly Love
Author: Colleen Hoover
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: New Adult
Release Date: August 5th, 2014
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.
Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.
It happens every time Colleen Hoover releases a new book. The anticipation. The nerves. The excitement. You know that feeling when the book you’ve been desperate to read for months and months is now in your hands, and you’re suddenly overcome with the thought of ‘what if I don’t love it?‘ Like I said, it happens every time, and every time I’m reminded just why CoHo is the queen of my book loving heart. She never fails me, and UGLY LOVE just might be her best book yet.
No two books are ever the same when they come from Colleen Hoover, and this book is absolutely no different. One thing you may notice from the synopsis is that Colleen brought the sexy to this story, and it was hot!! Oh boy, Miles certainly has it going on in that department, and I am all for joining the #MilesHighClub! And extra points for being a pilot!!! Swooon!
Going too much into story lines is something that I never do in my reviews, but what I will tell you is this…
The majority of the book is from Tate’s POV set in the present day. This is how we first see these characters. Now, Miles is not your usual Hoover hero. In fact, on the surface, he’s the exact opposite of Will, Holder, Ridge, and Daniel. Because he can be a real douchebag! But there’s a reason for it. He’s undeniably broken. The epitome of a tortured soul. But every now and then throughout the book we are treated to Miles’ POV. These parts of the book are set in the past, from a time when he wasn’t the man he is today.
And what we learn in those scenes? Well, they’ll both melt your heart, and smash it into pieces.
Looking back on books we’ve read that made us sad, made us hurt, we often call them heartbreaking. But UGLY LOVE seems to take on it’s own version of heartbreak. I don’t know what it is that sets the pain in this book apart from the rest. It just . . . does. Miles’ pain just seems so bone crushingly deep that your heart just . . . breaks. Because what else can it possibly do? There’s nothing that you can do other than feel. Learn. And try to deal with the emotions brought on by this story in the best way that you possibly can.
For Miles, it was Tate.
As Tate slowly disintegrates the armour surrounding his heart, small snippets of a playful Miles start to appear, sneaking through the barriers he’s erected. And when the two things he is most afraid of – the past and the future – start to collide, Miles must decide whether to face his fears, or forever live in a world of ugly love.
Poignant, passionate, and heartrending. UGLY LOVE is the story of one mans journey of redemption, forgiveness and love, and the girl who made it all possible.
