New Review – WALLBANGER by Alice Clayton

The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes she’s gaining an intimate knowledge of her new neighbor’s nocturnal adventures.

Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy’s athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed dating hiatus, and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise.

So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly…

In a delicious mix of silly and steamy, Alice Clayton dishes out a hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight…

It’s always a bit of a risk for me, reading a book that everyone raves about because quite a lot of the time, I find that book the book doesn’t live up to the hype. I think that’s one of the reasons I put off reading WALLBANGER for so long, but with the release of RUSTY NAILED just around the corner, I knew it was finally time to get stuck in, and see what all the fuss was about.

When interior designer, Caroline, moves into a new apartment, she never knew just how much of a new beginning she was getting. As with all new apartments, you also get new neighbours, and it’s Caroline’s first night in her new home when she meets hers. Or rather hears hers. After countless nights of being kept awake by thumps, moans, giggles, meows, and spanks, Caroline has had enough. Dressed in nothing but her pink nightie, she finally confronts her wallbanger.

Simon Parker makes me swooooooooon. Think really dramatic Hollywood style, spinning around and falling back onto a bed of pillows, kind of swooning. That is what Mr. Wallbanger does to me. He’s sexy, funny, caring, and has such an attractive personality, even early on when he was having a mini war with Caroline. Though I loved the parts in the book that were all about Caroline and her fabulous friends, I was always eager for the next scene involving Simon.

Caroline is one of those rare female characters that never get on your nerves. She doesn’t mope around after Simon like a lovesick puppy. She doesn’t spend the entire book putting herself down, and wondering why a guy like Simon might ever give her the time of day. Instead, she was sexy, confident, intelligent, and a real hoot. She was hilarious!

This whole book is filled with so many comedy moments that just looking back on them, you laugh just as hard as you did when you first read about them. Moments like Caroline’s pipes bursting (not a euphemism) and everything that happened in the aftermath. Clive (the cat) and the love of his kitty life, Purina. Clive being claw deep in Simon’s naked back, whilst Simon runs around screaming. And all the non stop witty banter. If you are after a laugh then this is definitely the book for you.

But there is something missing in this book. Caroline’s O. She lost it long ago on a disastrous one night stand, and no matter how hard she tries, she can’t find it. But fear not, WALLBANGER is filled with so much EVERYTHING that the reader doesn’t feel the loss unlike poor Caroline. Will Simon be able to put her out of her misery and uncover Caroline’s missing O? Or will it be lost to the Machine Gun Fucker forever? There’s only one way to fine out . . .
