New Review – Crash Into You by Katie McGarry

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane.

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that’s who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers…and she’s just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can’t get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they’ll go to save each other.

I absolutely LOVE this series and especially Isaiah, so I was desperate to read Crash Into You when I found out he was getting his own book, and once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. It’s official. Katie McGarry is an amazing author.

Rachel and Isaiah couldn’t be more different. But they have a few things in common. Painful pasts that they both try to hide from. And the love of driving cars. Fast. They are the most unlikely pair, but when danger gets put in their path, the tattooed foster kid and the straight A student must overcome their pasts, and fight their present, to secure the future they both so desperately deserve.

I really felt for both the main characters in this book. As we learn more about them, their secrets and pasts are uncovered and it really is sad. Then they end up in a bad situation and it’s nerve racking, wondering whether they will make it out in one piece. At more than one point I was on the edge of my seat, gripping on to my Kindle and wishing everything would turn out ok.

One thing that you can find on most bad boys in books is tattoos. Only, the majority of the time, they’re just there for decoration. They don’t have meaning behind them, but Isaiah’s tattoos DO. They each have a story that helps us learn more about this troubled young guy, and I absolutely loved that.

And of course, we meet back up with secondary characters Echo and Noah, and Beth and Ryan. Now, with Beth and Ryan I was really conflicted in this book. In their book, Dare You To, I absolutely loved them but in Crash Into You, I found myself feeling very protective of Isaiah and he was obviously hurt over them being together.

We also meet West in Crash Into You. He is Rachel’s brother and I am VERY excited for his story to be released in 2014, and I am praying that Isaiah and Rachel’s friend Abby gets her own book because she was such a fantastic character and I would love to see more from her.

A definite must read for all fans of Katie McGarry. If you love fantastic YA reads, then this is a series you need to check out.
