Donna’s 4 Star Review

This is not your everyday love story…It was emotional on many levels. I appreciate it when an author keeps the story real…Rebecca Shea did just that! What a great story 4 stars for me.

I enjoyed watching the relationship of Gabe and Jess transition from childhood friends, almost siblings, to lovers.

“This is real. Don’t ever doubt my feelings for you.” ~Gabe

They spend all of their time together exploring the new level in their relationship. That is when Gabe is not working at the firehouse and Jess is not in class for College. But when Jess notices Gabe continuously picking up extra shifts at the firehouse she gets a little upset. Is he turning into her father? After an argument Jess needs to clear her head and decides to go for a run.

I wasn’t sure when the title would reveal itself but I was sure that there was turmoil on the horizon. When it struck, I cried, as I knew it would be a turning point. The author kept true to the characters and their feelings. Allowing time to pass for them to heal.

A change of scenery is always a good to get yourself together, so Jess takes an internship clear across the country. It’s only for 3 months but it’s a start.

Jess takes a job at a tv station and meets her first friend since her arrival, Lindsay, her fellow intern. At the end of the first work week Lindsay invites Jess to join her for dinner. A girl shouldn’t spend Friday night alone.

Enter Landon…an overbearing, sexist, love and leave em’ cop. He sees Jess while one morning after a patrol and decides he has to have her. Just so happens that he is meeting his sister Lindsay for dinner too.

After dinner Jess is rattled when she finds something in her bag. Landon has decided that he should check up on her and ends up staying over. They begin to spend some time together and share an intimate moment before the secrets of Jess’ past come to light.

I was a little taken back by Landon and his antics. He was a little much for me and I felt the author faltered with Jess’s responses to Landon’s demanding ways. But she righted it as the story progressed and I truly warmed to him.

I was pulling for the Unbreakable to be Jess and Gabe and was pleased to see that through the heartache and separation that their love was the underlying constant. That though they were apart they were truly never separated.

“You loved me when I didn’t even love myself. I don’t deserve your love but there is nothing in this world that I would love more than being with you for the rest of my life.” ~Jess

So, pick up your copy of Unbreakable and embark on journey. I am looking forward to the companion story “Undone” that Rebecca Shea has planned to give us insight into all things Landon.
