…has had a hard life. On her own at a young age, always having to do what needed to be done just to survive. Now she has two other people depending on her and she needs a job fast before they get evicted. A job interview introduces her to Jesse Thornton, the delicious drummer for Demon’s Wings. He reminds her of all the mistakes of her past, but is also her hope for the future.
…has never let anyone in. The only real family he has ever had are his band brothers and Emmie—the only women he has ever loved. But then Layla comes into his life and he would do just about anything to get one taste. Can he move past his own insecurities and allow this woman into his heart?
After reading and falling in love with all the characters in The Rocker That Holds Me, I went on to Amazon and bought The Rocker That Savors Me and started it straight away. In fact, I went from book one to book two so quickly I didn’t even have time to wonder if it would live up to Emmie’s story, but even if I had, I wouldn’t have been disappointed. I might even go so far as to say that it was BETTER! And I really loved the first book, so that’s saying something.
So now we have Jesse. He’s the big, beefy and bald drummer for Demons Wings. After growing up on the trailer park with Emmie, Nik, Drake and Shane, they are the only people he cares about. His love for Emmie is apparent and he is so protective of her, especially now that she is starting her own family, and you can almost feel his pain and heartache when he thinks back to the abuse she endured at the hands of her Mother. When they all move in to a huge new house, they hire a cleaner.
Enter Layla. She had no worries when she accepted the job to work in a house full of rockers because other than their music, she really had no interest in them. Herself and her two younger sisters Lana and Lucy were the result of their groupie Mother and three rock stars who never stuck around, so she was determined to never follow in her Mother footsteps and fall for the charms of a rocker. But then she meets Jesse.
Once again Terri Anne has given us a firecracker of a female main character. Layla was great and reminded me of Emmie in that she was feisty with a big heart. She has custody of her sisters and I loved that because she’s still fairly young herself but she puts her family first and works hard to make sure they have a good life. If you didn’t love Jesse in book one then you will definitely love him now. He was just perfection and you could easily see why Layla found him hard to resist. The sexual chemistry between the pair was off the charts. It was H.O.T! As Jesse and Layla’s relationship intensified, we also saw more from Nik and Emmie and watched as a friendship blossomed between troubled soul Drake and 17 year old Lana. Everything about Drake broke my heart. He has nightmares about his horrendous childhood and he drinks excessively to try and numb the pain and erase the memories. He’s slowly killing himself and I don’t think he even cares. Just writing this now is bringing back all the emotion I felt towards him. But when he’s with Lana, she’s the light to his dark, she lifts the demons that weigh him down and helps him to laugh again. She’s his Angel.
Terri Anne Browning really has created some fantastic characters and stories in this series. The Rocker That Savors Me was captivating and extremely well written. I loved seeing not only Layla’s relationship with Jesse and her sisters, but also with Emmie. It was heart warming to see someone genuinely care about Emmie because other than the guys in Demons Wings, she has never had that. And again Terri Anne got me with her sneaky twists!!!
So now, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of The Rocker That Needs Me, which is about Drake and his Angel Lana. I have no clue how it will go with Lana being away at College but I hope and pray that Drake gets his HEA. Not just because I love the warm and fuzzy feeling I get when there’s a perfect ending to great story, but because I feel that Drake NEEDS a HEA. And after the life he’s led, I truly think he deserves one. If you haven’t read this series yet I strongly suggest that you do, and let this family of rockers in to your heart. I promise, you will be glad that you did.
